The visit was part of the ongoing “Read Across America” program.

Ryan said she attempts to demonstrate to students reading is important to all people “now as well as later in life.”
The visit by Branstad was not the first Ryan has hosted in her classroom. Among others who have read to her students over the years range from Governor Tom Vilsack to news anchorman Ron Steele and sports broadcaster Rick Coleman.
