TAMA NEWS-HERALD - Lights, camera action!

The spring play selected to be performed April 7-9 at 7:30 p.m is the Boys Next Door by Thomas Griffin.

The Boys Next Door is a story that takes place in a residence in New England, where four mentally challenged men live. Each having their own set of struggles, the four men, Arnold, Norman, Lucien, and Barry have bonded as a family and love and care about one another. The boys are taken care of by their social worker, Jack.

Director Mary Fasse-Shaw said the students were excited when they found out they were doing The Boys Next Door.

“I picked this play because it shows the characters Arnold, Norman, Lucien, and Barry as real people, and they are real people,” said Fasse-Shaw.

She also said that she thinks sometimes people forget that just because one is challenged does not mean one does not find joy in life.

According to Fasse-Shaw, the play has a message for everybody, and that message is that everyone needs a place in the universe; everyone needs to be cared for and loved.

“We all need to be a part of something no matter who you are and where you come from, and I think people need to acknowledge that,” said Fasse-Shaw.
