“First in Flight” will portray the trials and tribulations of the nation’s first African American military pilots. Despite the belief that African Americans would not thrive in the Army Air Corps, they included some of the most decorated flyers of the war and have the reputation of never losing a bomber to enemy fire for the entire duration of the war.
“First in Flight” will follow a 4:00 children’s program, “Red Tails” about the Tuskegee Airmen.
All ages are welcome to attend this event, and admission is free. Contact the African American Museum of Iowa for more information: 319-862-2101 or education@blackiowa.org
