Warns of cable TV changes

January 27, 2011
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald
Letter to the Editor:

As of today, Jan 20, 2011, Mediacom will be changing its cable service to much of eastern Iowa, virtually ending their analog (non-digital) cable service to nearly 1/3 of its subscribers and customers.

While Tama County is not yet affected, it surely will be in the very near future. During 2010, Tama considered seeking alternative cable providers since Mediacom had not been upholding their standards and practices according to contract with the city, reducing their service, product and channels available over recent years..

I strongly suggest that Tama make that a reality. End this disgusting treatment by Mediacom and find someone who is willing to serve its customers, rather than deny them their product that they pay for.

Denying nearly 1/3 of their customers their services is extremely unprofessional. I am sure there is a cable provider who is very willing to get Tama’s contract and serve the community immeasurably better than Mediacom has been in recent years. Please take action now while there is still time.
