Tama County Humane Society is an incredible asset to our community. Recently a compassionate landowner, a Tama County sheriff and Dr. Cooper rescued a helpless sweet young dog from a terrible fate. He was entwined with cable, cutting him and had been outside for at least 2 days. They took him to TCHS where he received medical help and a safe warm bed. Each animal at the shelter has its story to tell because of our compassionate community which has created this sanctuary with Laurie Schultz’s knowledgeable leadership, Shaun and Alicia’s daily immaculate care of all the cats and dogs, the generous help of Tama County vets, the CDC whose clients help out, Girl Scouts, schools, ongoing donations for ads, new computer , and so much more, and a strong Board’s oversight. The many hours of labor and materials donated to renovate the center is awesome. When you walk into the center it’s apparent how healthy and happy the animals are, waiting for a special home where they can thrive. They say we live longer and happier with a furry companion! Please remember TCHS when considering a new dog or cat, puppy or kitty. They will be forever grateful.
