Holiday gift suggestions for nursing home residents

•Record (on VCR or cassette tapes) memories, family events, or stories.

•A poem or letter describing, how much that person means to you.

•Photo album or scrapbook of pictures of “favorites”(i.e. people, flowers, animals, food).

• A hand printed dinner invitation.

•A donation to a charity or cause in their name (i.e. the Aviary Fund)

•Seasonal mobiles, pictures and/or bulletin board (with push pins) to hang- in your loved one’s room.

•Gift certificate to a favorite restaurant (include the date you will take them).

•Pre-addressed and stamped envelopes with note cards and pen.

•Sun catchers, bird feeder to hang on window and offer to refill it on a regular basis.

•Powder, cologne, hearing aid batteries, etc.

•Small portions of fruits and candies in sealable containers.

•100 piece (or less) puzzles, hobby materials and games.

•Gift certificates, to the facility shop, for hair care needs.

•Warm socks, mittens, gloves and scarves

•Large print books.

•Slippers with non-skid soles.

•Sweaters that can be laundered.

•Tupperware containers for storing snacks in room.

•A specialty product from your part of the country.

•Washable shawl or lap robe.

• Men’s shavers.

•Newspaper or magazine subscriptions.
