Festive events take center stage this weekend

Santa, Parade, Much More For T N’T Holiday Explosion

TAMA NEWS-HERALD -Santa Claus is coming to town in a big way this weekend for the T N’ T Holiday Explosion. He’ll be joined by Sparkles the Clown, craft fun for young people and a a special movie at the Wieitng. Be sure to check out all the specials at local merchants. There will be a pancake breakfast Saturday morning sponsored by Tama and Toledo firefighters and EMS perosnnel and a chili supper provided by South Tama Music Boosters on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. All lead up to the big, lighted parade set for Sunday evening. Events start Saturday, Dec. 4, with the pancake breakfast from 7:30-10:30 a.m. at the Reinig-Toledo Civic Center, 1107 Prospect Dr. Sponsored by the Tama-Toledo Area Chamber of Commerce, Sparkles the Clown brings a show of magic and balloon fun to the civic center from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Fun craft projects for kids will be provided from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and Santa Claus will be also be paying a visit at the civic center. Photos with Santa will be taken by Michael Adams Studio. From 3-5 p.m. Santa will be on hand at Pamida on South County Road ((U.S. 63) for the popular photos with pets. On Sunday, the jolly old gent returns to man Santa’s Workshop on the Tama County Courthouse square from 1-2 p.m. and 4-5 p.m. A speical family matinee sponsored by Pioneer Hibred, “How to Train Your Dragon” begins at 2 p.m. at the Wieting Theatre, 101 S. Church St. in Toledo. Admission is free. Serving for the South Tama Music Boosters chili supper begins at 4:30 p.m. in the State Bank of Toledo Community Room on South Broadway. The lighted Holiday Parade starts at 5:30 p.m. through downtown Toledo. Cookies and coca will be served by T-T Girl Scouts at the parade. The paprade lineup is at 5 p.m. at the South Tama Middle School, 201 S. Green. Cash prizes for entries will be awarded.
