Enjoy new holiday decor in downtown Tama

TAMA NEWS-HERALD - New holiday decor can now be seen in the downtown Tama business district. The Tama-Toledo Area Chamber of Commerce donated $2,000 over two years and the City of Tama added about $1,000 to buy the new street pole decorations, according to Judy Welch, Tama city clerk.

They were purchased on sale in January from a supplier, she said.

The two “snowflake” type designs in front of the Louise and Lucile Hink Tama Public Library are something of an experiment to see how they are received, Welch said.

Eight traditional wreath-type decorations are new along 3rd Street.

The Tama Street Department is in charge of hanging the festive decor each season.

The old decorations which were replaced were sold on as part of a city auction last summer and were purchased by private parties the clerk’s office said.
