TOLEDO CHRONICLE -Exercise - America’s new focus on health makes a resounding case for it. “We’ve become a sedentary society. We don’t have to get up for anything,” says Wade Thalberg. Along with his wife, Cecelia, they’re doing something about it. With the opening of their new Anytime Fitness location in Toledo, there’s a state-of-the-art facility here to help guide you to a goal of more of exercise resulting in better health and lifestyle. The center, located at 103 Highway 30 West, in the former Movies America location offers an array of equipment designed to give a healthful workout. There’s tread mills, elliptical machines and stationary bikes for cardio workouts. Wade terms other equipment “selecterized” which provides exercises to certain parts of the body. There’s also a large assortment of free weights for strength and endurance training as well as fitness. The Thalbergs are no stranger to the Anytime Fitness franchise. The Toledo location is their third, already owning locations in Marshalltown and Grinnell. A grand opening is set for this Friday, Nov. 12 in Toledo. The building has been completely remodeled. Wade said their decision to add Toledo resulted, in part from the encouragement of Kirk and Dick Ridout who believed the need for the business in a building they own is here. Wade said he was working as a personal trainer for a short time in his native Minnesota when he decided to branch out into this type of business. He said he studied various opportunities and found the Anytime Fitness the best fit. When the Thalbergs began in Marshalltown five years ago, there were less than 200 Anytime Fitness locations. There are now more than 1,300 world-wide according to the company’s website. Offered are annual memberships at a per-month cost for singles and families. This entitles members to use the health club 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The Toledo location is staffed from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday. An access card admits members when no staff is present. Wade says he is frequently asked about this and said security measures are in place to assure the members are the one admitted. For an additional fee, tanning and an interactive website are offered. By frequent visits to Anytime Fitness, a program actually rewards the interactive user. The family lives in Montezuma. Ther couple have two children, Dylan, 9, and Braxton, 13 months. Cecelia is a native of New Foundland.
