South Tama enrollment is nearly constant

TAMA NEWS-HERALD - Enrollment in South Tama Schools dipped less than one percent or 14 students for the 2010-11 school year according to figures released Monday. Public schools must certify their enrollment to the state of Iowa by Nov. 1.

The number of students plays an important role in school finances because state aid to schools is based upon a per pupil number. This could amount to payment of $7,419 per pupil according to an Iowa Legislative Services Agency projection. That totals $11,091,405 for South Tama in the current year.

Last year they payment was $6,976 per pupil in the state.

South Tama enrollment for the current school year shows an enrollment increase of five students in pre-school - elementary, a total of 15 less students in high school and a drop of four students enrolled in middle school.
