With the warm weather there is still plenty of produce to be purchased at the Toledo Farmers Market. Be sure to purchase yours before the time runs out.
I am going to miss the sights, sounds, and smells of the market. Also the sounds and smells in the van on the way to market. The smell of fresh herbs, like rosemary, cilantro, sage, and parsley mixed with the smell of fresh dug potatoes, cut broomcorn and arugula. The sound of lady beetles buzzing around inside the van tubs of produce rocking when I take a corner to fast, or the sound of containers sliding around inside the van. Oh the delight of marketing days. At market the sight, and sounds of vendors setting up there tables, customers gathering talking about their families, neighbors or the day to day news, children playing with the chalk, blowing bubbles and giggling. Watching and listening for the whistle to blow to start the market, and the bustle of customers walking up and down the sidewalk.
Watching our weekly customers making their purchases is a common sight, one that I enjoy each and every week. I especially enjoying waiting, watching and listening for our faithful customer that comes to almost every market, making purchase from all the vendors that are left. Her voice as she greets each vendor on her way to one end of the market, only to end up at the end where she parked. As she stops by each vendor to make her weekly purchases the sound of rustling bags coming untangled, along with her cheerful greetings.
And then once the market day has ended, the sounds of vendors putting their produce away, listening to them converse with each other about the market day or what is ahead of them in the coming week. Oh the sights, sounds, and smells of market will be missed by this vendor.
So you see you have one week left to come out and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the Toledo Farmers Market.
