Toledo Library holds early out program

October 27, 2010
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald
TOLEDO CHRONICLE - Early out program #3 at the Toledo Public Library. This group of kids enjoyed an entertaining program called No Fuss No Bake Treats on Wednesday, October 13th. They enjoyed crackers with cream cheese with the option to put on broccoli and carrots, most did either. Then we made two different snacks that are no fuss and no bake. The first was a Fall Mix and each child helped prepare it by dumping in ingredients to get the finished treat. Next was a Snack Mix that required use of the microwave. Jenny warmed almond bark in the microwave and the kids finished out the job. We then put it in the freezer to harden. When each snack was complete, the kids put their snacks into bags that they could take home and munch on or give to someone as a gift. It was fun watching them cooperate to get the completed treats. Thank you to Dillon Graves for being a great helper and Bob Dew for taking photos. The recipes are shown for anyone interested and of course you can adjust to your liking. Upcoming programs are Leaf Art, For Crying Out Loud poetry reciting, and Agatha’s Feather Recycling Program. Check the website for the calendar www.toledo.lib.ia.us or call our friendly staff for information.
