Letter to the Editor:
Less than one month will be election day. County voters will be making their choice of candidtate for several positions. The one which concerns me most is the race for County Treasurer.
This office is of great importance to all county taxpayers. The County Treasurer is responsible for collecting tax money as well as investing it in a fund most beneficial to the taxpayer. Therefore it is of vital importance to elect a person with the qualifications and experience to handle such an important job. Taxpayer money should not have to be spent to train someone for the position, nor should the individuals already working in the treasurer’s office be responsible for teaching the new county treasurer.
Michelle Yuska has worked in the Treasurer’s office for more than five years, having experience in every facet of that office. She has the education to fill the job as well as the experience. Michelle has previously worked for Principal Financial Group doing investments as well has managing personnel. She also has experience working for the South Tama Community Schools, including preparing state reports.
Michelle grew up in Tama County and now lives with her family in Toledo. She is well known to the community. She has also served as President of the South Tama County Community Board of Education for several years. This gives her a great deal of expertise in budgeting.
I hope those of you who read this feel it as important as I do to elect a person who has had the experience and the qualifications in handling the large amounts of money the County Treasurer’s position demands.
Michelle will get my vote. I hope she gets yours.
