UPDATED- Listeners to local radio station KZAT FM 95.5 - Belle Plaine, Tama, Toledo - expressed surprise and asked questions after the station suddenly switched to an Hispanic music and language format shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday to The Toledo Chronicle - Tama News-Herald - tamatoledonews.com. So far, no response to an email request to FCC licensed station owner Farmers and Merchants Bank for information on the change has been received.
REPORTED 2 p.m. 9-16-10: tamatoledonews.com - Radio station KZAT 95.5 FM, Belle Plaine and Tama-Toledo, began broadcasting a Hispanic music format on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 16. Language is in Spanish.
The FCC license held by KZAT was listed transfrred to Farmers and Merchants Savings Bank from Camrory Broadcasting ownership on June 10, 2009.
A search of the FCC website did not find a record of a change in ownership on Thursday afternoon.
The station was off the air on Thursday nigth but returned to the air early Friday morning. Shortly after 8:30 a.m. it was again off hte air, but resumed broadcasting shortly thereafter.
The radio station studio is in downtown Tama.
