Success shopping locally

September 16, 2010
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald
Dear Editor:

Recently I needed batteries for two of my watches. I went to the Toledo Pamida store where the clerk installed a #377 battery in one of the watches for $1.29 plus tax. Neither myself or the clerk could get the back off the other watch.

Since I had purchased the watch in Marshalltown, I took it back there for service. The clerk did get the back off and replaced a #377 battery at a cost of $5.00 plus tax. My complaint for the difference in price fell on deaf ears.

I later called the manager of the store and told him of my complaint in the difference in price. He told me he would look into it.

I then asked if he wanted my name and phone number which he reluctantlytook. Nothing further has been done as I have heard nothing from the store.

This situation reminded me of how lucky Tama-Toledo residents are to have the local PAMIDA store as well as many other competitive businesses in the Tama Toledo area. Let's all support our local businesses by buying locally.
