September 1, 2010
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald
The Iowa Juvenile Home will once again proudly raise their Avenue of Flags on campus grounds for Labor Day Weekend in remembrance of individuals and groups for which flags have been dedicated, either as a memorial, or a living tribute. At a dedication ceremony, planned for Thursday, Sept. 2, beginning at 3 p.m., three new flags will be added to the Avenue’s prestigious skyline honoring Richard ‘Dick” Novak, Duane and Faye Bossman, and Elroy and Evelyn Bossman, (Duane’s parents).

Duane pioneered the Avenue of Flags project at the Iowa Juvenile Home back in the Summer of 1991, and his and Faye’s flag will mark the 100th honorably dedicated this day. The general public is invited to attend this ceremony to be held in center campus.

We have all known individuals who have impacted our lives in one way or another, or who have committed themselves to unselfish service forour country, the community around them, or their family.

It was for those people, or groups,, that the Iowa Juvenile Home established the Avenue of Flags, either as a memorial or a living tribute. Any individual or organization may dedicate a flag by contacting the Iowa Juvenile Home at 641-484-2560, ext. 2305, if you would like more information regarding this project.

Cost of a flag pole, and plaque is $84. The next dedication ceremony will be planned for Memorial Day weekend,2011.
