Kids respond to summer reading challenge

August 24, 2010
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald
TOLEDO CHRONICLE - The top ten readers at the Toledo Public Library were treated to a delicious pizza party with librarians Sheri McFate and Brenda Wanatee. Congratulations to the top reader, Caitlyn Adams with 1,528 pages and her sister Cassie following close behind with 1,355 pages. The top ten readers together accomplished a total of 9,851 pages this summer, and the total pages for all the kids reading (or being read to) was 13,392. The summer reading program is held at the Toledo Library each summer in July where kids are challenged to read as many pages as they can throughout the program. Kids can read to themselves, read to others or they can be read to. This reading program encourages kids to read and helps maintain their reading skills throughout the summer months. We would like to thank Casey’s for donating our pizza and our volunteers for helping at each program.

See you next year!
