August 20, 2010
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald
TAMA NEWS-HERALD - Summer Reading is officially over and school will be starting soon. Our program was a great success with 139 children and young adults reading 76,020 minutes. Our total attendance was 793. Our grand prize winner of 6 Adventureland tickets was Jazmin Nunez. Guessing jar winners were Miles Zmolek and Carly Jefferson. They each won a giant super soaker water gun. Everyone earned a t-shirt and a pool pass to our “Make a Splash” pool party. Summer reading kids and their parents were invited to the pool party and we had an attendance of 160 people. We took lots of pictures this summer—stop by the library to take a look at our photo book. All kids received a free kid’s meal from the Tama-Toledo Subway and one from Hardees too. We had lots of terrific prizes like swim rings, water wings, blow up pools, goggles, water guns, water bombs, water games, sand buckets, kickboards, swim bags just to name a few. This year we had wonderful and supportive sponsors including: Blank Park Zoo-kids tickets, Manatt’s-sand for our beach, Tama Library Foundation-T-shirts & Pool Party, Laurie’s Hair Affair-2 gift certificates, Bob Dew-prizes, Mercy Care & Dr. Wille-Prizes, and Home Federal Savings Bank-Prizes. We received cash donations from: Spahn & Rose, Richard & Janice Glass, Sandhill Auto Salvage, Caraustar, Sally Willett, Corey & Keely Upah, Matt and Stephanie Babinat, and the Tama County Supervisors. Next year’s theme is One World, Many Stories.

Kids that missed the August program should pick up their shirts and certificates at the library soon!
