About Organizing for America (OFA)

ON THE STUMP - POLITICS

August 22, 2010
By Jeannie Sieck
TOLEDO CHRONICLE - Organizing for America is a grassroot organization built from the bottom up. It is the successor organization to Obama for America and is built on the movement that elected President Obama. Our objective is to organize a grassroot support for President Obama policies for change and to help grow and strengthen the middle class.

In 2008 Americans got involved in the political process, many for the first time, to fight for a new kind of politics and a better future for our country. Online, on the phone, and doorsteps and in town halls in communities across the country they built the support that made change possible. Regular American supporters connected with other supporters, to form strong local groups throughout all 50 states. To maintain this grassroots movement, staff was hired to recruit, train and develop volunteer leaders and teams. OFA is a people’s organization rooted at the neighborhood level where volunteers are in charge of phone banks, in charge of canvassing, volunteer recruiting and in charge of data transcription and recording. A well ran organization where people know what they are working for, they have successes everyday and they know they are involved in building something that gives them hope for the future. Together we reach out to friends and neighbors, share our stories and make our voices heard in Washington. We will support leaders who share our values and are ready to carry forward the fight for change. OFA serves our community in ways big and small and we leap into action at crucial moments when we can make a difference.

Our nation has enormous issues to deal with and a broken Washington to hold accountable. If we set aside the old politics that have kept us apart, there is no limit to what we can achieve. When the polls close, the true work of citizenship begins. Now, in this crucial time, our voices once again, have the power to carry forward the fight. That is what organizing for America is all about. Rebuilding America starts today. Come join us now. We have work to do to strengthen our Party, to support leaders that support our values and will take Iowa’s voices to Washington and support President Obama agenda for a change.

Our motto- Respect, Empower and Include.
