TAMA NEWS-HERALD - (SPECIAL) - Several local and area artists will be featured in this Saturday’s Mid Summer Arts Festival in Grinnell.
The Grinnell Area Arts Council is sponsoring the 1st Annual Mid Summer Arts Festival this Saturday, July 3, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. in Central Park on 4th and Broad Street.
The event is part of the Chamber sponsored, ‘Get into Grinnell’ 4th of July weekend celebration. Admission and parking are free.
Judy Arendt, Arts Director for the Grinnell Area Arts Council said, “This festival will feature primarily local and regional artists, offering affordable fine art to festival attendees during the weekend. We are hoping to grow the event into an annual regional arts festival.”
Featured artists from Grinnell, Oskaloosa, Ankeny, Fairfield, and West Des Moines were selected by application and reviewed by committee. Artists showcasing their work include: Netia Worley, watercolor; Michael Rouse, photography; Joe Lacina, sculpture and oil; Amy Skouson, Linda Knierim, Judy Ludwick, Sue Kluber and Rebecca Lowe representing STER FiberArts; Michelle McFee, photography; Rhonda Scott, jewelry; Mark Schneider Photography; Mark Stoltenberg Photography; Becky Anderson - Art by Becky, stained glass and sculpture; Dena Loftin - DenaBCreations, Crazy Metal Art; Lisa Van Gilst, Designer Art Purses; Yvette Jury, Silver Fingerprint Charms; Connie Rodgers, jewelry; Linda and Robert Scarth, photography; Stephanie Haupert, bracelets; and Charlotte Irwin, stained glass.
Other booths include, the Poweshiek Animal League Society (PALS); Wine Tasting by Phoenix Café; Drake Community Library; Grinnell Area Arts Council offering free water to attendees and Mid Summer Arts Festival T-shirts.
