Letter to the Editor:
June is designated as Caregivers Month in Iowa to recognize the vital role direct care workers play in Iowa’s health care industry and to honor those who provide care and assistance to Iowans of all ages in a variety of health care settings.
With more than 350 staff members across the state that provide opportunities, choices and support for some of the state’s most vulnerable individuals, Genesis Development’s “caregivers” are among the most dedicated and professional in the industry.
The Board of Directors of Genesis would like to take this opportunity to commend the Pheasant Ridge Genesis staff for their dedication, understanding, resourcefulness and creativity, especially during this past year in dealing with the many challenges that had to be dealt with due to the state of our economy.
Our primary goal has been to develop ways to trim dollars from the budget that would not negatively affect our consumers, jeopardize the quality of the services we provide, eliminate programs, or result in laying off members of our staff. As a Board, we have been amazed and impressed with how quickly and efficiently the Genesis staff stepped up to the challenges that confronted them and made the changes that were necessary to keep Genesis going strong. Department budgets were trimmed, projects were put on hold, planned purchases were cancelled, and all made do with what they had to work with. It has not been easy, but it has been done, and done very well.
Our staff is what makes Genesis the best that it can be, and we know that they will continue to put the well being of those we serve first as they always have.
Genesis Development Board of Directors
