Letter to Editor:
On May 1st, 2010 the US army attempted to land three helicopters of the US seventh cavalry air division on the burial grounds at Wounded Knee in South Dakota.
Two young men, the Camp brothers counted coup on the first 7th cavalry helicopter and Debbie White Plume an elderandgrandmother charged the other choppers preventing the landing. Counting coup is hitting or touching your enemy with out harming him and getting away.
This was a slap in the face for all native people. On December 29th,1890 the seventh cavalry mowed downmorethan300 babies, childern, women, old people and men at Wounded Knee. It is a unspeakable insult even to think of the seventh land here.
For me it is a proud day for my people, we showed those in the goverment who thought this up that we will still standup and that we never forgive and never forget.
