The GFWC/Iowa Toledo Woman’s Club met April 13 at Perkins Restaurant then visited the Iowa River Valley Hospice House in Marshalltown. Rhonda Miller met the 15 club women and gave the history and a tour of their new home. Members learned that Paula Henderson Rutherford, native of Toledo was one of the nurses who started Hospice in Marshalltown in 1983.
President Floriss Adair called the business meeting to order. Club members voted to give a contribution to Iowa River Hospice House and to the STC Dollars for Scholars. It was announced that Destiny Cherveny, Toledo was awarded a Music Campships from GFWC/Iowa. The club thanked Marlene Eernisse for serving on the Scholarship state committee. Our club will be hosting the 4th District Convention in October.
Members who delivered Meals on Wheels in Toledo were attending a thank you lunch April 14. This week members are delivering meals. President Adair thanked Shirley Otterman, Dalene Larkin, Earlene Bacon, Marlene Eernisse, and Ann McMullin for helping at the Birthday Bingo at Sunny Hill on March 29. Plans are made to play Bingo at Carrington Place April 30. A recognition of those who have helped with Bingo this past year will be held at Carrington April 22.
The May 11 meeting will be at The Trojan Inn, 11:30 a.m. Happy Dollars were collected. The meeting adjourned with the members reading their Club Collect.
