TAMA NEWS-HERALD - The STC Class of 1965 alumni will begin their celebration on Friday, May 14. Some classmates have signed up for the golf outing while others will build a float for the Lincoln Highway Bridge Festival parade.
The evening will be spent at the Tama American Legion with a social hour preceding the auction. Classmates will donate items of nostalgia for the auction with the goal being to raise money for the big 50th reunion.
The 40th reunion auction produced 50 items including STC Yearbooks, class photos, STC sports events buttons, and music, coins and clothing of the era.
We are looking for more items of this kind for this auction. If you haven’t found a use for the dress patterns you bought at the last auction, bring them back and we’ll auction them off again.
Some items donated so far include: Tama grade school class pictures, Tama 8th Grade graduation program, wooden spoon from E.E. Posusta- L.C. Booth Standard Oil Products, 1966 Disney puzzle trays, 1960 Ladies Home Journal Cookbook, Tama News-Herald graduating class picture pages dated May 27, 1965, and coins dating 1946-65. Possible donation- “The Torch is Passed...The Associated Press Story of The death of a President (JFK).”
On Saturday, May 15, classmates will ride on their float in the Lincoln Highway Bridge parade. After the parade they will meet at the STC Elementary School to have pictures taken beside the tree and plaque which were donated by the class. Saturday evening is the 45th anniversary of the Class of 1965’s Senior Prom. The classmates will celebrate with a dinner and dance held at the Meskwaki Casino.
A weekend of fun, good company and enjoyable conversation is promised for all who attend.
If you are an alumni of the STC Class of 1965 but did not receive your invitation to the reunion, please contact Wanda at 484-5038. It’s not too late to get those reservations in. We’re the best alive, we’re the Class of ‘65!
