TOLEDO CHRONICLE - Lori Norton from Norton Greenhouse in Toledo shared information with the GFWC/Iowa Toledo Woman’s Club about their business. She talked about ordering a variety of annuals, perennials, garden seeds and plants. She showed the club members a flat as they receive the tiny plants that will be transplanted before they are ready for patrons to buy. Twelve members attended the March 9 meeting held at the Toledo Public Library. Joanne Yuska and Karen Havran were hostesses.
President Floriss Adair lead the Pledge of Allegiance then read “The Daffodils” by William Wadsworth. Marlene Eernisse received two applications for the GFWC/Iowa scholarships. Fern Dowd read a thank you note from Jenny Bladsoe and the Toledo Public Library. Marlene Eernisse read a thank you note from Joyce Legg for the donation to SKIP.
The GFWC/Iowa State Convention will be held in Carroll April 22-24. The president Mrs. Adair thanked Georgia Matzdorff and her committee of Shirley Otterman and Arlene Gerlach for playing bingo at Carrington Place in February. Shirley Otterman will lead the committee for the Bingo Birthday Party at Sunny Hill for March 29. Those volunteering were Dalene Larkin, Floriss Adair, Marlene Eernisse, Joanne Yuska, Arlene Gerlach, and Ann McMullin. The Club will deliver Meals on Wheels April 5-9.
Ann McMullin read Federation News articles about junior Woman’s Clubs and a family of five generations who have volunteered in Club work. Happy Dollars were collected and the meeting closed with reading the Collect. The April 13 meeting will be at Perkins in Marshalltown and later members will tour Iowa River hospice Home.
