February 25, 2010

TOLEDO CHRONICLE - By Bob Walton

The February meeting was opened at 2;30 p.m. in the State Bank of Toledo Meeting Room by Beverly Vesely with 24 class members present to work on and promote the upcoming All Class Reunion scheduled for this coming July 4h weekend. Minutes of the last meeting were read, corrected, and approved.

Reports from various committees were called for and discussed. A letter to be sent to all former class members in April was read and discussed with any desired changes or corrections made. The cost for the three day event will be be $25 - the greater cost due to the large increase in rental for the Reining-Toledo Civic Center over what had been the charge for the 2005 get-together.

Tours were discussed, with times set for some and with some host volunteers named and others needed. At this time, tours are planned for the Historical Museum, Wieting Theatre, School, and Fire Department.

A Sunday Church Service is planned in the Court House Square with Jim Roberts -in charge. In the event of inclement weather, it will be determined if the services may be moved to the nearby Presbyterian Church.

The All-class calender will be an 18-month calendar, and any pictures to be considered for use in it will need to be in by May I to Nancy Sund at the Chronicle Office.

Registration will be Friday July 2 from 3 - 6 p.m., and on Saturday from 2-6 p.m. with refreshments served, and with all requested to furnish cookies. Marlene Eernissee will be doing the name tags. be doing the name tags. Several volunteers were named with others also needed.

Friday evening hor d’oeurves will be furnished by Gloria’s Catering, but the serving of them will be our responsibility. A cash bar will be provided from 6-10 pm. with our committee being responsible for the cost of the required bartender and police officer.

As a part of the Saturday night program, a video review of Herb Berry’s life will be shown with his son and wife, Rob and Diane, along with Herb’s special friend Helga Mayhew to be special guests. Also, anyone over the age of 90 will be recognized. It is hoped that Hattie Cibula will be able to attend on Saturday evening

The next meeting will be held Monday, March 1, at 2 p.m. in the State Bank of Toledo Meeting Room. It is hoped all can attend.
