Adopt-an-Author/Adopt-a-book Project

TAMA NEWS-HERALD - What’s a library without new books? It is still a library, offering many services such as, public computers, Internet Access, Public programming, classic books, Inter-library Loan services and many other things. So what do I mean? No new books Our problem is, we lost 36 percent of our book budget in the current fiscal year, and it will be the same for the next fiscal year. We would need $6,800 to bring our book budget back to the fiscal year 2008/2009 amount. So in an effort to make our money go further and still enjoy new books, the library is starting a new project called “Adopt-an-Author/Adopt-a-Book”.

To support your library and be the first to read the latest book by your favorite author or title of interest, stop by the library and fill out a form, making a pledge to pay the library’s discounted price for the title you request. This cost is usually 20% to 70% off the cover price. We will notify you of the cost of the item and when the item is ready to be checked out, you will be the first to read it. A special book plate with your name will be added to the book and a receipt will be provided for tax purposes. If by chance the book that you want to adopt has already been adopted, please consider another title of interest. I’m sure we all want to be first to read the next Janet Evanovich book to see what Stephanie Plum has been up to.

All decisions concerning the selection and location of all library materials are the library’s responsibility. Any items purchased must fit into our collection policy.
