TOLEDO CHRONICLE - Toledo city officials are still compiling a budget for 2010-11, but expect it to be about $2.47 million, up a bit from the current year. Construction costs for the new $4.7 million waste water treatment plant are anticipated to be influencing the bottom line amount.

Meeting on Jan. 25, a public hearing for the budget was set by city council members for Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the lower level of the Toledo Community Building, 103 S. Church St.

Council members voted to correct Jan. 18 meeting minutes to reflect two employees who should have been included in the three percent raise schedule for the 2010-11 budget - Jennifer Bledsoe, library director, and Shari McFate, assistant librarian.

In other action Monday the council:

authorized purchase of two Iowa Great Places signs at a cost of $60 each. They will be placed on U.S. Highway 63 north and on U.S. High 30 west to designate Toledo as one of the Great Places locations in Iowa chosen last year.

approved a resolution adopting the National incident Management System for emergency responses in the city and named Mayor Pam Wood, Police chief Jeff Harnish and Fire Chief Joe Boll as representatives. The system needs to be in place to assure federal government assistance during emergencies.

•delayed consideration of purchase of hand-held readers for water meters until more bids are received.

•approved a liquor license renewal for El Campesino, beer license renewal for Zeno’s Pizza and wine license renewal for Designer Inn and Suites.
