Terry Lang Leonard, 57, Muscatine, formerly of Toledo, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at his home in Muscatine. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 30 at 11:00 AM at the Christ United Methodist Worship Center in Toledo with Pastor Mary Schnepf officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Terry was born on Jan. 1, 1952, in Long Beach, Calif., the son of Lang J. and Elizabeth (Barnett) Leonard.
He graduated from South Tama County High School in 1971.
On July 28, 2000, he was united in marriage to Rhonda Staker in Muscatine. He was an owner of Rolling Oats Limited Trucking Company. Terry enjoyed spending time in his backyard where he loved landscaping, working with plants, flowers, and birdhouses. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles with friends and going on trips. Terry was a very generous and giving person who liked to help people. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with family and friends. In his younger years, he liked riding his horses, Sonny and Poco and was a member of the Ridge Riders Saddle Club.
Preceding him in death were grandparents.
Survivors include his wife, Rhonda, Muscatine; his mother, Elizabeth (Jack) Bates, Tama; his father, Lang J. (Eris) Leonard, Cedar Rapids; five children, Tammy (John) Leonard-Fuller, Omaha, Neb., L. D. Leonard, Gilman, Eric Leonard, Clear Water, Fla., Daniel Leonard, Des Moines, and Marshall Leonard, Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Brenda Lukasko, Cedar Rapids, Nancy (Mike) Purk, Toledo and Sharon Campbell, Toledo; a step-brother, Scot (Shelley) Taylor, Tama; his aunt, Sue (Paul) Allen, Trenton, Mo.;;and many nieces and nephews.
