George Konicek Jr., 83, Clutier died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center following a short illness. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Chelsea, by Deacon Joe Behounek. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Vining with Military Rites. Visitation will be 4 -7 p.m. Tuesday at the Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine where there will be a scripture service at 6:30 p.m. He is survived by his wife Darlene; a daughter, Connie (Alan) Weaver of Tama; grandchildren, Mike Polka, Jr. and Mindy Burnhart; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Buffington and Murray Polka. George loved his family and friends. He enjoyed listening to and playing polka music on his accordion for different occasions in the area. He was a farmer most of his life but did read meters for the REC for several years. He will be missed. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Eagles in Tama and the Clutier American Legion. George was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Blanche Kubalek Konicek Messinger.
