Dean Milo Umbdenstock, 83, Montour, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at Mary Greeley Medical Center, Ames. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 12, at 10:30 a.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama with Pastor Jerry Avise-Rouse officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Montour. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 11 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home. Dean was born on March 9, 1926 in Toddville, Iowa, the son of Milo Paul and Frances Josephine (Noska) Umbdenstock. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Dean was united in marriage to Clarice Holmes on November 19, 1949 at the Montour Methodist Church. Dean and Clarice farmed all of their married life. They had lived north of Toledo and east of Tama, ultimately settling in the Montour area for over 50 years. Dean was a hard worker, and in his spare time enjoyed fishing, hunting, and outdoor activities. He also liked his daily coffee club.
