Georgia M. Hagedorn, 41, Malcom, died Friday, Nov. 06, 2009, in Toledo.

A memorial service will be held Monday, Nov. 9, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with the Rev. David Brandt, pastor of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Grinnell, officiating.

She was born the daughter of Donald Eugene Skyberg and Patricia Mae Fredricks Skyberg on April 10, 1968, in Luverne, Minn. As a child, she moved to Iowa and graduated from Grinnell High School with the class of 1986.

She was married to Daniel Hagedorn on Oct. 10, 1986.

They had their first child one year later and named him Dennis Lee. During this time, she worked as a contractor for GTE until the birth of their second child, Clinton Michael, in May of 1990. Shortly after, she enrolled at Carlson College of Massage Therapy in Stone City, Iowa to become a massage therapist.

She then started her own business until meeting Steve and Marybeth Fenske, with whom she became business partners with and created Expressions Salon and Day Spa in Grinnell. She had a successful business until being diagnosed with brain cancer in the summer of 2000. After recovering from her first surgery, she went back to work until being rediagnosed in 2003. She then proudly raised her two sons while battling her disease for six more years.

She was a constant support to her family and always put their accomplishments before herself. She was ecstatic when Jacqueline became a member of her family in May of 2009 and enjoyed being a part of the wedding. She was able to spend her last days at home, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Grinnell. She held a passion for drag racing and this began in her youth when she watched her father drag race and most recently when her family was involved in drag racing at Eddyville Speedway in Eddyville, Iowa. She was also an avid collector of eggs.

She is survived by her parents, Don and Pat Skyberg, Malcom; her husband of 23 years, Daniel Hagedorn, Malcom; her children, Dennis (Jacqueline) Hagedorn, La Plata, Mo., and Clinton Hagedorn, Malcom; her siblings, Gene (Vickie) Skyberg, Tama, and Judy Skyberg, Toledo; her paternal grandmother, Julia Skyberg, Luverne, Minn; her father and mother in law, Valentine and Bobette Lerma, Toledo; her brother-in-law, Scott Allen, Toledo; and several nieces and nephews.*
