Roan speaks to Toledo Club

TOLEDO CHRONICLE - Jim Roan gave a presentation on the History of Wieting Theater and shared the plans to renovate at the October meeting for the Toledo GFWC/Iowa meeting. It was held at the home of Roberta Dostal with Sharon Yuska as co-hostess.

President Floriss Adair welcomed 15 members and opened the business meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. She read an inspirational article "A Volunteer Can" in memory of Fran Smith a 25 year member who passed away.

Shirley Otterman and Fern Dowd will meet with the Librarian and purchase a book to be presented in her memory. Roll Call was answered with Favorite Things in October.

President Adair thanked those who delivered Meals on Wheels during the first week in October. They were Bruce and Barb Muecke, Ken & Nancy Carson, Joanne Yuska, Roberta Dostal, Frank & Floriss Adair, Ordell and Georgia Matzdorff.

Floriss announced that members would be playing Bingo at Pleasant Ridge with Arlene Gerlach in charge of the activity.

Several members attended the GFWC/Iowa District meeting in Brooklyn Oct 3. Earlene Bacon gave a memorial for Fran Smith. Our club received Ist place award for Legislation/Public Policy in addition to 13 other awards. Al Bott was the speaker, who gave a presentation on birds.

A donation will be given to MCC. Marlene Eernisse announced the candy has been delivered and will be for sale at the Craft-HobbyShow November 1.

Reading reports are to be given to Arlene Gerlach at or before the December meeting. Joanne Yuska announced the SHIP meeting would be Oct 26.

Barb Muecke presented the Federation News about the Club emblem. Happy Dollars were collected The November 10 meeting will be at Carrington Place.
