Lewis and Saathoff exchange wedding vows

TAMA NEWS-HERALD - Kelly Lewis and Michael Saathoff, both of Urbandale, exchanged vows on Saturday, October 3, 3 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Tama with Pastor Phil Borleske officiating.

Parents of the couple are Terry and Wendy Lewis, Newton, Karen Lewis, Tama and Steve and Donna Saathoff, Hazleton.

The pews were decorated with single spider mums in green with lilac ribbons. A memorial candle adorned the guest book table in memory of loved ones. A unity candle was placed on the altar.

Steve Handeland, Grand Rapids, Mich, uncle of the groom, gave the scripture reading.

The bride wore a satin strapless ball gown with a pick- up skirt and lilac accents at the bodice. She carried a bouquet of green hydrangeas, small cushion mums, white lilies and statice.

Serving as maid of honor for her sister was Shawna Lewis, Cedar Rapids. She wore a satin strapless side-ruched lilac ball gown with a rhinestone brooch at the side waist. She carried a bouquet of green hydrangea, small cushion mums and purple statice.

Other bridal attendants were Jamie Welsh, Toledo, sister of the bride; Leanna Kutzner, Indianola, step-sister of the bride; Annie Frundle, Kansas City, friend of the bride; Maria Manfull, Montour, friend of the bride; and Sarah Lange, Dallas Texas, friend of the bride. Their dresses and bouquets were like the honor attendant’s.

Personal attendants were Mandi Nelsen, Grimes and Marcy Pease, Cedar Rapids, both sisters of the groom.

Niece of the groom, Elle Nelsen, Grimes, served as flower girl. She wore a white satin spaghetti strap dress with lilac sash and pick-up skirt like that of the bride. She carried a white basket of lilac rose petals.

The bridegroom was attired in a Calvin Klein tuxedo in black with a white vest and white tie. He wore a green cushion mum and statice boutonniere.

Kenny Magsamen, Des Moines, friend of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Christopher Jensen, Oelwein, friend of the groom; Christopher Wehling, Waverly, friend of the groom; Scott Wehling, friend of the groom, Readlyn; Eric McLeish, Ankeny, cousin of the groom; and Matthew Hallberg, Urbandale, friend of the groom. They wore Calvin Klein black tuxedos, like that of the groom, with lilac vests and ties. Their boutonnieres were like that of the groom.

Karter Welsh, Toledo, nephew of the bride, served as ring bearer. His tuxedo and boutonniere were like that of the groomsmen.

Seating guests were Clint Nelsen, Grimes; Jacob Pease, Cedar Rapids; and Chris Brawner, Cedar Rapids; brothers-in-law of the groom. Their attire was like that of the groomsmen.

The fathers of the wedding couple were also attired like the groomsmen.

Guest book attendants were Mattie Brawner, Cedar Rapids, sister of the groom and Katie Mathern, Marshalltown, cousin of the bride. They wore corsages of green mums and statice.

The mother of the bride chose a dark lilac floor length gown with a coordinating jacket. The bride’s step-mother wore a taupe street length multi layered dress with matching jacket. The groom’s mother chose a green floor length gown with matching jacket. The mothers wore wrist corsages of mums and statice.
