V. Blanche Staker 88, Gladbrook, formerly of Garwin died Friday, Oct. 23, 2009.

Services and celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 10:30 a.m. at the Garwin United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Monday October 26, 2009 at the Overton Funeral Home, Garwin, from 4-7 p.m.

Vena “Blanche” Gilbert was born on Aug. 15, 1921, in Page County, Iowa, to Levi A. and Vena M. (Conklin) Gilbert. She graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1938.

On October 11, 1941, she was united in marriage to LaVern B. Staker. She had been secretary to the Superintendent of Garwin Community Schools and was deputy Tama County Auditor of

She is survived by daughters Dinny (Robert) Nielsen,Marshalltownand Debby (Irv) Van Haaften, Clear Lake; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; and three sisters.

In death she has rejoined her husband LaVern, her parents, seven brothers and two sisters (Evelyn and Eula)
