Before Judge Robert E. Sosalla:

Frederick Earl Kuehl, 38, Wells, Minn., received a two-year prison sentence after his probation was revoked on a 3rd degree theft charge in Tama County District Court. The sentence is to run concurrently with one in Jones County.

Kuehl was placed on probation in December, 2008, after pleading guilty to the theft charge for skipping out on a $520 hotel bill at the Designer Inn and Suites in Toledo. The charge was filed by Police Chief Jeffrey Harnish.

Rogelio B. Torres, 19, Marshalltown, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for delivery of less than five grams of methamphetamine. A $1,000 fine was suspended. He pled guilty on Oct. 1.

The sentence is to run concurrently one handed down in Marshall County.

Torres was charged on Feb. 5 in the 1400 block of U.S. Highway 30 in Tama County.

Stephanie Lynn Anderson, 36, Albion, received a suspended, five-year prison sentence and $750 fine after pleading guilty to a charge of possession of as controlled substance, 3rd offense.

She was placed on probation for three years to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services. Anderson must reside in a community correctional facility for up to 0one-year a part of the sentence.

She was charged on June 5 by Meskwaki Nation Tribal Police Officer Julian Rivera. The location of the arrest was not found in court records.

Starla Fawn Durnin, 25, rural Tama, pled guilty to 3rd degree burglary. She was sentenced to a suspended five-year prison term. A fine of $750 was also suspended. Durnin was placed on probation for three years.

Durnin was charged on June 16 being accused of breaking into an apartment in the 300 block of Meskwaki Road by Meskwaki Nation Tribal Police Officer Scott Brammer.

Anne Marie Potter, 40, Traer, was sentenced to a suspended prison term of five years on a charge of forgery. A $750 fine was also suspended. Potter pled guilty on July 16.

She was placed on probation for five years to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services and must reside in community correctional facility for up to one year.

Potter was also directed to pay restitution totaling $75 to Phyllis Schroder, $44 to Traer Super Market, $46 to Wieck Bros. Sinclair and $160 to Debra Raymond.

Potter was charged on June 16 by Tama county Deputy Sheriff Joe Quandt after a series of checks were allegedly forged inn the Traer area.

A forgery charge filed on Aug. 3 by Dysart Police Chief Tim Ruroden was dismissed. One of the orders for restitution in the other case applied in this matter.

Daniel Jefferson, 18, rural Chelsea, pled guilty to charges of 3rd degree burglary and attempted 3rd degree burglary.

He was accused in a Tama County Attorney’s information filed on Jan. 28 of breaking into the Chelsea Community Building and attempting to break in to the Heartland Co-Op.

Jefferson was sentenced to deferred judgements in both cases. He was ordered to pay $1,272 restitution to the City of Chelsea and $1,343 restitution to Heartland Co-Op.

Armando Cruz-Martinez, 35, Tama, pled guilty to a charge of assault causing bodily injury.

He was sentenced to 60 days in jail with credit given for 60 days already served and fined $315.

He was charged with biting a victim twice on the lips at a downtown Tama apartment on July 28 by Tama Police Detective John Carr.

Matthew Joseph Vanderhaar, 19, Iowa City, pled guilty to possession of marijuana. He received a deferred judgement, was assessed a $315 civil penalty and placed on self-supervised probation.

Vanderhaar was charged in the Meskwaki Casino parking lot on July 16 by Meskwaki Nation Tribal Police Officer Lee Posusta.
