Keith Squiers

Keith J. Squiers, 68, rural Chelsea, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at his home under the care of Grinnell Regional Hospice from brain cancer. Funeral services were held Sat., Aug. 22, at Hrabak Funeral Home, Belle Plaine, by Hospice Chaplain Susan Sanning. Burial followed at Rector Cemetery, Chelsea. He was born April 19, 1941, at the family farm near Chelsea, the son of Harold and Esther (Ryan) Squiers. He graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1959. Nov. 7, 1964, he married Beverly Adams in Brooklyn at the Presbyterian Church. He was a farmer and also worked in security at Meskwaki Casino for 12 years. He enjoyed traveling and visiting with family and friends. He especially enjoyed his two grandchildren, Amy and Adam, and attending their athletic and other school events. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Dale, David and Dennis. Surviving are: his wife, Beverly; children, Connie (Mike) Ledvina, Toledo, Phillip Squiers, Chelsea, Sonja Squiers, Des Moines, and Janet Squiers (Al Gulden) Inner Grove Heights, Minn; two grandchildren, Amy Marie and Adam Keith Ledvina, Toledo; sister, Phyllis Squiers, Eagan, Minn; and brother, Rex Squiers, Des Moines. A memorial fund has been established.*
