Classes for all South Tama students begin on Thursday, Aug. 20. Meskwaki Settlement school students begin classes tomorrow, Wednesday, Aug. 19.
A big grand opening is planned for all day on Friday, Aug. 21, for the new high school addition at the Meskwaki Settlement School. (See a special supplement featuring open house information and the new addition in The Tama News-Herald this week.)
A Back to School Night for Wednesday evening is planned for the South Tama Elementary School. Students and their families are invited to the event from 4:30-6 p.m. at the school.
The elementary Boosters will serve hot dogs and beverages and local organizations will offer information about local activities. The students should bring their school supplies and can meet their new teachers.
For South Tama High School freshmen, Thursday is Transition Day which the school says “is designed to help make incoming 9th grade students make a smooth transition to the high school setting.”
STC students in grades 10-12 have the option to perform community service projects on Thursday instead of attending classes.
Classes are in session on a year-around basis at Herbert Hoover High School on the Iowa Juvenile Home-State Training School for Girls campus in Toledo.
