TOLEDO CHRONICLE - Every Tama County town save for Lincoln and Vining has experienced slight dips in population in the latest U.S. Census estimate. Lincoln is projected to have gained one resident and now has156 people in the northern Tama County community. The population of Vining is estimated at 50 - the same as the July 1, 2007 figure. The Data Center of Iowa released the new population numbers on July 1. Overall, Tama County is projected to have lost a total of 77 persons between July 1, 2007- July 1, 2008 with 17,690 as the new total estimate. Toledo continues to lead the county in population according to the data with 2,645 residents, a drop of 18 over the 2007 estimate. Tama also is estimated to have also lost a total of 18 in population to 2,557 in the 2008 projection.
