TAMA NEWS-HERALD - Yvonne Mallory, rural Toledo, told The News-Herald she plans to seek a third, four-year term on the Iowa Valley Community College District Board. She represents District VI.

It includes all that portion of the Merged Area VI Community College District lying within the South Tama Community School District, the Brooklyn-Guernsey-Malcom Community School District and the portion of the Grinnell-Newburg Community School District lying within Chester and Sheridan precincts in Poweshiek County and Hickory Grove/Kellogg/Mariposa/ Rock Creek precincts in Jasper County.

Directors for District III currently held by Delbert Kellogg, Marshalltown , and District IV, currently held by Deborah Jones, Clemons, are also on the ballot.

Persons interested in candidacy for the directorships may obtain nomination papers from Board Secretary Barbara Jennings at the administrative offices of IVCCD, 3702 South Center Street in Marshalltown, or from the Marshall County Auditor's office in the courthouse. 50 bonafide signatures of residents within the represented director district are necessary to place the names of the nominees on the ballot.

Nomination papers for candidates for the Board of Directors are now available and may be filed with Barbara Jennings, Secretary of the Board, any time between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. beginning Monday, July 6, through Thursday, July 30, no later than 5 p.m.

The Board of Directors is responsible for the operation of Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa Valley Community College Grinnell, Marshalltown Community College and Iowa Valley Continuing Education within Iowa Valley Community College District (Merged Area 6).

Candidates for the Board of Directors must be residents of the district they propose to represent. Director District III is all that portion of the Merged Area VI Community College District lying within the East Marshall Community School District, the GMG Community College District, and that portion of the Marshalltown Community School District lying within the First Ward in the City of Marshalltown, LeGrand and Marion/Vienna precincts in Marshall County in said school district.

Director District IV is all that portion of the Merged Area VI Community College District lying within the West Marshall Community School District and the Marshalltown Community School District in the Second Ward in the City of Marshalltown and Iowa/Taylor, Jefferson, Liscomb, Eden/Logan, Marietta/Washington and Timber Creek precincts in said school district.

Newly-elected directors will be seated at the annual organizational meeting of the IVCCD Board of Directors in October.
