Ed Polaco owner of Family Auto Center in Toledo told The Chronicle just after 2 p.m. on Friday General Motors will extend his dealership's franchise agreement.

He had announced earlier this week his business was among the some 1.100 GM had decided to cut nation-wide including about a dozen in Iowa. He said his appeal of the decision had failed, but on Friday he was informed GM had reversed it.

"I thank the people of Tama, Toledo and Tama County for calling their representatives and giving me a hand. I've got to believe the publicity made a difference," Polaco said Friday. "I'm sure GM will put on some lofty expectations as we go forward and we'll need to do as much business as we can.
