TOLEDO CHRONICLE- Pam Wood, Mayor of Toledo demonstrated the skill of making a pot of tea for the Toledo GFWC/Iowa Woman's Club when they met at the State Bank of Toledo May 12. Co-hostesses were Georgia Matzdorff, Shirley Otterman and Dalene Larkin. Sixteen members and guests Ann Hendricks, Helen Hruby and Mary Jo Mullen enjoyed that tea. Pam Wood was introduced by vice president Karen Havran.
President Floriss Adair opened the meeting with leading the Pledge of Allegiance and reading "Your Cup of Tea". Reports from the state conference of General Federation of Woman's Club was given by Floriss Adair. Also attending were district president Fran Smith, Marlene Eernisse and Ann McMullin. The club was awarded first place in Woman's History Resource Center and a certificate for Public Affairs. Photos of Tessa Heeren, Lindsey Zmolek and Kristy Behounek GFWC scholarship winners were on display. Arlene Gerlach, district and club Literature committee gave recognition to thirteen members. Two members Fran Smith and Joanne Yuska each read over 100 books.
A thank you was given for those who played Bingo at Carrington Place April 24. Plans were made to play Bingo at Country Living May 19. Those volunteering to help Arlene Gerlach were Earlene Bacon, Floriss Adair, Marlene Eernisse, Barb Muecke, Karen Havran and Ann McMullin. Shirley Otterman will be calling members to deliver Meals on Wheels June I to 5. A sign up sheet was sent around to plan hostesses for next year. Floriss Adair and Marlene Eernisse will present certificates at the STC Award Night. Lynn Koch thanked the club members for the 154 items given to the Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Center.
Nancy Carson gave the Federation News about the Fight for Equality in Pay by Lily Ledbetter. Happy Dollars were collected. President Mrs. Adair lead the Club Collect before adjournment.
