Activities beginning with an auction are in all readiness for the Tama-Toledo Eagles and Auxiliarys' State Charity Project Saturday, March 21. The auction will begin at 3 p.m. with the well known Darwin Thomas, Albia, as the auctioneer.
Members have been collecting articles and donations from merchants, individuals and spreading the word in and around the Tama-Toledo area for some time. All are hoping to raise a huge sum for "The Heart Connection" a camp for children with cancer to attend for a fun filled week with their families.
A dinner will be served from 4:30-6:30 p.m. featuring New York Strip steaks or chicken strips and salad bar. The Third Street Band will provide music for entertainment and dancing 6:30-10:30 p.m. A cake walk and raffles will be entwined with the other activities.
State Worthy President, John Goffinet, Moticello and State Madam President, Rochelle McKay, Fort Dodge will be in attendance for their State President's Day. The State Charity Chairman, Joe Roe, Iowa City and Nellie Morehead, Toledo will also be present as will other Eagle members from around Iowa and surrounding states.
Earl "Butch" Taylor a member of the local club, who has been on several yours of duty in Iraq, will be presenting an American Flag, which has flown over Iraq, to the Eagles.
