Coal plant meetings set at Meskwaki

A pair of meetings have been scheduled for March and the public comment period is now open for the proposed new coal-fired power plant at Marshalltown.

On March 17, two public meetings will be held at the Meskwaki Tribal Center, 346 Meskwaki Road.

Interstate Power and Light Company - Alliant Energy - is proposing the new facility at the Sutherland Generating Station located on East Main Street Road.

According to the Department of Natural Resources the rules are: comments at the public meetings will be limited to five minutes. Presentations shall include a hard copy for inclusion into public record.

Also, comments may be submitted in writing before 4:30 p.m. on the last day of the public comment period (March 20) to Chris Roling, Air Quality Bureau, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, 7900 Hickman Road Ste 1, Urbandale, IA 50322.
