I have to agree with this recent article. The employees of the state homes in Toledo and Eldora are doing us a service as providers to youth, that are part of our most vulnerable and often victimized in our state. We as citizens of Iowa need to stand behind them and support what they have done and the work they are continuing to do to support human services. There isn't going to be a quick fix for all the problems and needs these youth display, there are a vast differences in each and every individual that are brought into a state facility for treatment. The Iowa Juvenile Home was staffed with professionals to assess and create an individualized programming for each and every youth served there. That takes a vast amount of time and patience and human service to succeed. These staff are not the abusers, but have been abused by the very state government they have served, and as a result these youth are left without a home.
